Wildwood Catholic boys move up to No. 1 in South Jersey

Wildwood Catholic is No. 1.

One of the smallest schools in New Jersey has moved into the top spot in Prime Events’ Online 25 that ranks all of the teams in South Jersey

The undefeated Crusaders are one of five Cape-Atlantic League boys basketball teams in South Jersey included in the top 25, three of them in the top five. Dave DeWeese’s team has a challenging week with games against St. Augustine Prep in North Wildwood tomorrow (Monday) night and Haddonfield on Saturday afternoon in the Shoot Down Cancer Classic at The Prep.

Both of those games will be broadcast live – the Wildwood Catholic-St. Augustine game on 98.7-The Coast with Brian Cunniff & Buddy Tarbotton and the Crusaders’ game with Haddonfield on 97.3-ESPN with Mike Gill & Mike Frankel.

Both St. Augustine and Haddonfield are included in the Online 25. Wildwood Catholic also has a makeup game with Atlantic City, another highly-ranked team, to schedule. There are reportedly talks about playing that game at Stockton University since the Atlantic City High School gym is out of service for the rest of the season.

There are two CAL teams in Online 25 for girls basketball, led by No. 5 Mainland. The No. 1 girls team is St. John Vianney.

These are the only rankings that include not only all the NJSIAA teams from Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester & Salem counties – but also all other teams that play in NJSIAA South Tournaments. The Online 25 is updated every night.

The complete boys and girls Online 25s – plus current CAL standings – are at http://www.primeevents.net/calbasketballx.html.
