The Lower Cape May Regional High School field hockey team had one of the best seasons in program history ended with a tough state playoff Monday.

Cedar Creek scored a goal about 12 minutes into the game and made it stand up as the Pirates dealt the Lady Tigers a 1-0 defeat in a South Jersey Group II playoff game. It was the second straight 1-0 victory by Cedar Creek over Lower, after the teams also met Friday in a game that decided the Cape-Atlantic National Conference championship.

Tori Wilson had the goal for Cedar Creek. The tally came off a rebound. With Lower goalie Makayla Hueber away from her cage after making a save, Wilson sent the ball toward goal. Two Lower defenders stationed along the goal line made a valiant effort to clear, but the ball deflected off of both of their sticks and trickled across the line.

Lower Cape May finished the season at 14-4-1.
