The Middle Township High School boys soccer team has earned a nice preseason accomplishment.
The Panthers won all six of their games to win the championship of the Richard Stockton University Classic, a preseason tournament involving high school soccer teams from across South Jersey. Games are played in two 20-minute halves.
Middle scored a 3-0 victory over Absegami in the semifinal round. The team then edged Oakcrest in a penalty kick shootout after the teams played to a 1-1 draw in the championship game.
Middle has three scrimmages scheduled for this week. The team is scheduled to open the regular season on Friday, Sept. 6, against Oakcrest.
Middle is expected to be one of the better teams in the Cape-Atlantic League this fall. The Panthers bring back quite a few players after going 12-8-1 in 2018.
