Ocean City hoop teams sweep Cedar Creek

Issac Robertson scored 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting tonight and Ocean City defeated Cedar Creek, 61-46, in the Joe Mohr Memorial Gymnasium in Egg Harbor City to stay in first place in the Cape-Atlantic League’s National Conference.

In the Dixie Howell Memorial Gym back in Ocean City, Paul Baruffi’s girls remained undefeated by spanking Cedar Creek, 48-11.

Robertson, fresh off an all star football season, came off the bench to score his 17 points in less than 15 minutes. He added three rebounds, three steals and two assists.

The Raiders (2-1), who struggled in the first quarter of both of their first two games, came out firing tonight, opening a 21-10 lead. Ocean City pressured the Pirates into 37 turnovers and had its biggest lead – 22 points – midway through the third quarter.

Jake McQuarrie added 13 points, three steals and four assists; Tom Jamison had nine points and four steals; and Joe Sacco had eight points, six rebounds, three steals and four assists.

Isaiah Vasquez led Cedar Creek with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Junior Danielle Donoghue led the OCHS girls (4-0) with 13 points and five steals. Sophomore Emma Finnegan added 10 points and five rebounds and Mickey Baker scored eight.

The Raiders led, 16-2, after one quarter and 30-4 at the half.
