WILDWOOD – The girls teams from Ocean City and Wildwood won bracket championships to highlight Day 2 of the Boardwalk Basketball Classic at the Wildwoods Convention Center on Wednesday. The following are recaps of games involving Cape May County teams:

BOYS

DelCastle Tech (Del.) 67, Cape May Tech 47: DelCastle Tech used balanced scoring, with five players with at least nine points, to run past the Hawks (1-4) in the Dave Lewis Memorial Boys Bracket consolation game. Ray Abbott scored 12 points in the loss.

Lower Cape May 56, Northeast (Pa.) 27: Patrick Holden pumped in 19 points, dished out eight assists and picked up three steals to pace the Caper Tigers (3-1) in the first-round Jay Craven Memorial Boys Bracket game. Martin Anguelov made four three-pointers and added 16 points for Lower.

Millville 66, Ocean City 61: Millville raced out to 19-6 lead after the first quarter and held off several Ocean City rallies in the second half to win the Ray Martin Memorial Boys Bracket title. Luke Varallo sank 21 points and Donovan Graham added 16 points for Ocean City (4-2). Millville’s Rynell Lawrence posted game highs of 26 points and 19 rebounds.

 

GIRLS

Delsea 51, Cape May Tech 20: Delsea ran out to a 21-6 lead after one quarter and rolled to victory in the first-round Big Al Nerenberg Memorial Girls Bracket game. Liza Pellini scored eight points for Tech (0-4).

Wildwood Catholic 45, Pennsbury (Pa.) 39: Marianna Papazoglou shot a sizzling 11 for 13 from the floor, including 4 for 5 on three-point shots, and led all scorers with 30 points in the victory in the first-round Frank McAlarnen Memorial Girls Bracket.

Ocean City 46, Methacton (Pa.) 40: In the GWTIDA Girls Bracket title game, Danielle Donoghue shot 7 for 10 from the floor and collected 18 points to go with four steals to pace the Raiders (6-0) to the win. Tori Rolls and Emma Finnegan each added eight points. Ocean City committed just nine turnovers to Methacton’s 17.

Wildwood 49, Cumberland 21: Maddie McCracken totaled 18 points, five assists and five steals and Tracey Young added 13 points and six rebounds as Wildwood won the Kaitlin Anzelone Memorial Girls Bracket championship game. Wildwood (4-1) went on a 20-0 run in the first half to take control of the game.
