ERMA – It didn’t take long for Patrick Holden to reach a significant milestone Thursday evening.

The senior guard became the Lower Cape May Regional High School boys basketball team’s all-time leading scorer when he sank a three-point shot from the top of the key midway through the first quarter of a 76-50 victory over Cedar Creek. Holden passed 2005 graduate Charles Johnson’s career record of 1,666 points with the basket.

The game was stopped for a quick ceremony after Holden set the new record.

Holden finished the game with 25 points and 11 assists, leading four Caper Tiger players in double figures in scoring in the victory. Martin Anguelov knocked down six three-pointers and finished with 20 points, Khamar Matthews posted 13 points and Zach Cerasi tallied 11 points.

Lower Cape May improved to 10-2 overall, 5-0 in the Cape-Atlantic National Conference. They are the lone unbeaten team in National Conference play.

Holden exited the game with 1,687 career points. His older sister, Lauren, now a junior at Division I Fordham, is the all-time leading scorer in girls basketball at Lower Cape May. She scored 2,476 career points.
