Below are the first-ever CoastSportsToday.com Cape May County girls basketball all-stars. Selections made by CoastSportsToday.com staff in consultation with area coaches.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Maddie McCracken, Junior, Guard, Wildwood

Dynamic talent who impacts game at all levels … averaged 23.4 points, 9.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists … deft ball-handling skills allow her to control pace of game … excellent finisher around rim … made 153 free throws … led Wildwood to 20 wins and share of Tri-County Classic Division title … has 1,359 career points.

 

FIRST TEAM

Danielle Donoghue, Junior, Guard, Ocean City

Floor general for South Jersey Group III champions … averaged 10.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.0 steals … can guard multiple positions … often at her best in difficult circumstances … also a Division I lacrosse player.

 

Emma Finnegan, Sophomore, Forward, Ocean City

One of the Cape-Atlantic League’s best young players … averaged 7.1 points and 3.6 rebounds … emerging as tremendous post player on both ends of floor.

 

Marianna Papazoglou, Freshman, Forward, Wildwood Catholic

One of South Jersey’s top freshmen … prototypical “point forward” and a transcendent talent … averaged 19.3 points, 10.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists … posted multiple triple doubles and surpassed 30 points in a game four times … colleges already on notice.

 

Kira Sides, Sophomore, Guard, Middle Township

Averaged 16.2 points and 5.0 rebounds … improved all-around game tremendously from freshman season … can score in lane and make occasional three-pointer … won Boo Pergament Award as most improved player in CAL.

 

Tracey Young, Senior, Forward, Wildwood

Averaged 10.1 points and 10.0 rebounds despite standing just 5-8 … outstanding athlete who was able to find success in the post by using quickness and strength against taller defenders … very good team defender.

 

SECOND TEAM

Michaela Baker, Senior, Forward, Ocean City

Tremendous athlete and defender … averaged 4.6 points and team-best 4.7 rebounds

 

Erin Connelly, Junior, Guard, Wildwood Catholic

Averaged 6.5 points … made 30 three-pointers.

 

Kate Herlihy, Freshman, Guard, Middle Township

Outstanding prospect … averaged 10.3 points and 3.7 steals … quick and athletic.

 

Olivia Levin, Senior, Guard, Lower Cape May

Averaged 13 points per game … showed toughness in overcoming major knee injury suffered as junior.

 

Tori Rolls, Junior, Guard, Ocean City

Athletic and quick … one of CAL’s best perimeter defenders … averaged 3.8 points.

 

Kilie Wyers, Senior, Guard, Ocean City

Averaged 6.0 points … led team with 44 three-point baskets.
