College commitments by OCHS seniors Bill Kroeger and Brandyn Pokrass

Two more Ocean City High School student-athletes have made their college plans known.

Bill Kroeger, one of the best in the state in getting his lacrosse team possession of the ball, will continue his lacrosse career at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).

And Brandyn Pokrass, who hit .259 and was among the team leaders with four stolen bases, will play baseball at Lesley (MA) University.

Both Kroeger and Pokrass also play football and are getting ready for the start of the season on Friday.

Kroeger won 264 of 346 face-offs in the spring, a .763 percentage that was one of the best in the state. He also led the Raiders with 160 ground balls. Kroeger scored eight goals and had four assists.

NJIT is an NCAA Division 1 school located in Newark. The Highlanders play an independent lacrosse schedule and the team was 1-15 last season. The lacrosse program at NJIT is only a few years old.

Kroeger will team up with former Mainland star Keegan Ford, who is a freshman at NJIT this year.

Pokrass scored six runs and drove home three as a valuable utility player for the Raiders.

Lesley is an NCAA Division 3 school located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Lynx play in the New England Collegiate Conference. They usually play the first two weeks of the season in Florida and, last season, that included a doubleheader against Stockton University. Lesley was 27-11 last year and lost to Mitchell College in the NECC championship game.

Kroeger and Pokrass join five other OCHS student-athletes who have made college commitments.

Senior Brandon Lashley has agreed to pitch for NCAA Division 1 Stony Brook on Long Island, New York.

Senior Danielle Donoghue will play lacrosse for NCAA Division 1 Mount St. Mary’s in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Sophomore Faith Slimmer has verbally committed to play soccer at Division 1 Rutgers University.

Senior A.J. Campbell will play baseball at Division 3 Frostburg (MD) State.

And senior Alex Vitola will play softball at Division 2 Flagler (FL) College.
