St. Joe junior Jada Byers dominates football scoring stats

Jada Byers of St. Joseph showed his versatility over the weekend and continues to dominate the scoring stats of football players from Cap-e-Atlantic League schools.

Byers, a junior, scored his 12th rushing touchdown in three games on Friday against St. Augustine Prep whle also returning an interception for a score and throwing a TD pass. Last year, Byers scored 21 rushing TDs, caught a TD pass, returned a kickoff and four punts for touchdowns and scored a defensive touchdown. Friday’s TD pass was the first of his career. Byers has scored 286 points in his career.

Junior Elijah Gray of Holy Spirit is second in scoring among CAL players with 38 points.

Ocean City is dominating the scoring stats in the passing game. Senior quarterback Ian Aungst threw four TDs to take the lead among CAL QBs with six. And senior OCHS wide receiver Brandon Lashley tied a school record with three TD receptions, giving him the CAL lead with four.

Sean Carey of Mainland leads CAL kickers with 17 points and has kicked the only three field goals.

Pleasantville (41.3) is currently the highest scoring team and Buena (7.5) gives up the fewest points.
