CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — A pair of juniors led the Ocean City High School cross country teams to a sweep of the Cape May County championship meets Thursday afternoon at scenic Cape May County Park.

Anthony Conte led an effort that saw seven Raider runners finish among the top eight places in the boys meet. Conte edged senior teammate Gavyn Fox by less than a second to win, posting a time of 16 minutes, 1.27 seconds. Fox finished in 16:01.83.

Cape May Tech senior Leo Zaccaria broke up the Ocean City pack to place third in 16:12.06.

The Raiders then took the next five places behind, in order, Luke Kramer (16:18.95), Tyler Greene (16:23.78), Max Kelly (16:24.06), Owen Ritti (16:41.82) and Erik Sacramento (16:50.09).

The Raider boys won comfortably with 18 points, finishing ahead of Wildwood Catholic (63), Lower Cape May (81), Cape May Tech (103), Middle Township (125) and Wildwood (161).

Ocean City’s Casey McLees took top honors in the girls meet, winning in 18:51.66. Lower Cape May senior Christina Adams was second in 18:56.85, followed by Ocean City’s Rebecca Millar in third in 19:05.16 and Brooke Farr in fourth in 19:13.72. Wildwood Catholic runners then took the next three places behind, respectively, Joelle Osborne (19:59.75), Erin Connelly (20:08.39) and Sophie Peters (20:28.94).

Ocean City won the girls meet with 29 points, edging Wildwood Catholic by 10 points. The Raiders’ team score was mitigated down when one of its better runners took a wrong turn and had to retrace her path. She finished 16th.

Cape May Tech (87), Lower Cape May (93) and Middle Township (123) finished third through fifth, respectively, in girls team scoring. Wildwood did not field enough runners to score as a team.
