Middle grad named college conference player of year

JOE FALA

Middle Township High School graduate Joe Fala’s record-breaking season with the Ramapo College men’s soccer team has earned him some major recognition.

Fala, a junior forward, has been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, the Division III conference announced Tuesday morning.

A 2016 graduate of Middle, Fala scored 23 goals during the regular season for the Roadrunners (14-2-2), who open play in the NJAC Tournament against William Paterson Tuesday afternoon. That total broke the previous record of 21 set by Rob Santaniello in 2010.

Fala, twice named NJAC Player of the Week this season, led the NJAC with 22 points in conference play and also finished as the league leader in goals scored in conference play with 10 and game-winning goals in conference play with five.
