PAT HOLDEN

Pat Holden (freshman-Widener basketball-LCMR) was named to the all-tournament team after the Pride won their own Tip-Off Tournament for Autism Awareness last weekend. Holden scored 27 points in Widener’s two games of the four-team tournament, including 13 points in a 78-76 win over Gwynedd-Mercy in the title game. Holden shot 8 for 11 from the floor, including a perfect 8 for 8 from three-point range over two tournament games. Widener brings a record of 3-1 into Tuesday’s game against Scranton. …

Luciano Lubrano (sophomore-Rowan College at Gloucester basketball-OCHS) flirted with a triple-double to help the Roadrunners to a recent 97-87 win over Atlantic Cape College. He posted 18 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the win. RCGC (3-1) is scheduled to play at Camden County College on Tuesday. Lubrano is averaging 12.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game. RCGC is coached by Lower Cape May graduate Will Wareham. One of his assistant coaches is former Ocean City standout Al Genz. …

Ryan Herlihy (senior-Haverford College cross country-MTHS) placed 29th out of 270 finishers at the Division III National Championships held in Wisconsin on Saturday. He posted a time of 24:54.3 in the 8K race. By virtue of finishing inside the top 40 finishers, Herlihy has earned Division III All-America honors. He finished 27 spots ahead of his place at last year’s national championship race. Herlihy helped Haverford finish fourth out of 32 teams at the race. …

Amanda Nunan (sophomore-University of Tennessee swimming-OCHS) won both the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle races to help the Volunteers to a 197-103 victory over Auburn recently. Nunan swam the 500 freestyle in 4:49.47 and the 1,000 freestyle in 9:44.19. …

Maggie Wallace (freshman-Indiana University swimming-OCHS) finished seventh and earned an NCAA championships cut time in the 1,650-yard freestyle at the IU Invitational last week. Wallace posted a time of 16:19.01 in the event. Indiana, ranked 13th in the nation in Division I, placed third in the five-team competition that also included North Carolina State, Louisville, Arizona State and Purdue. …

Aly Chain (junior-Iona College swimming-OCHS) was part of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team in the Gaels’ 170-92 win over Monmouth recently. The relay team had a time of 1:41.65. Chain also placed second in the 100 butterfly and was part of the second-place 200 medley relay team at the meet. …

NICHOLL FENTON

Nicholl Fenton (sophomore-St. Joseph’s field hockey-OCHS) played in all 21 games for the Hawks as a defender this fall. St. Joe’s finished 18-3 overall, won the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament and lost to Michigan in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. …

Olivia Rulon (senior-Rowan University basketball-WCHS) posted two points, five rebounds, five steals, three assists and a blocked shot to help the Profs to an 89-62 win over New England College in the third-place game at the Cardinal Classic in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Saturday. …

Lauren Holden (senior-Fordham University basketball-LCMR) posted seven points and three rebounds to help the Rams to a 71-64 win over Charlotte Sunday. Fordham (3-2) next plays Friday against Ball State at the Gulf Coast Shootout in Florida. …

Wes Hills (senior-Slippery Rock University football-WHS) rushed for 167 yards and a touchdown on 33 carries to help Slippery Rock to a 20-14 win over previously unbeaten LIU Post in a Division II playoff game Saturday. Slippery Rock (10-2) plays at the University of New Haven in the second round on Saturday. …

Kelly Hanna (senior-Monmouth University field hockey-OCHS) recorded an assist in her final college game, a 3-2 loss to William & Mary in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament recently. Hanna ended the season with nine goals and nine assists, capping her Monmouth career with 30 goals and 20 assists. Monmouth (13-7) won the 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament. …

Joe Fala (junior-Ramapo College soccer-MTHS) and the Roadrunners had their season ended in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament with a 3-0 loss to Montclair State. Fala finished the season ranked second in all of NCAA Division III with 27 goals. Eleven of his goals were game winners. He also added seven assists. Ramapo finished the season with the best record in program history at 17-4-2. …

D.J. SMITH

D.J. Smith (sophomore-Cabrini University basketball-WCS) came off the bench to sink five three-pointers and score 17 points to go with five rebounds in the Cavaliers’ 90-73 win over Houghton in the consolation game of the University of Rochester Chuck Resler Tournament. His brother, Trey Smith (sophomore-Cabrini University basketball-WCHS), added eight points and eight assists. Cabrini (1-2 hosts Rosemont College on Tuesday. …

Lauren Moretti (sophomore-Delaware Valley University basketball-WCHS) made two three-pointers and finished with eight points to help the Aggies to a 66-43 win over Penn State Berks on Saturday. Delaware Valley enters Tuesday’s home game against Brooklyn College at 3-1. …

Mackenzie McCracken (sophomore-Widener University basketball-WHS) posted nine points and five rebounds in 19 minutes of action in the Pride’s 68-63 win over Eastern Mennonite Friday. She did not score but grabbed three rebounds and dished two assists the next day as Widener beat Ferrum, 74-49, to win the McDaniel College Tip-Off Classic. Widener enters Tuesday’s game against Neumann at 4-0. …

Brennan Ray (freshman-Montclair State football-LCMR) was recently named an honorable mention all-New Jersey Athletic Conference selection at linebacker. Ray had 61 tackles and two forced fumbles for the Red Hawks (8-2) this fall.
