CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — A new season began with a game on a new field.

The Lower Cape May Regional and Middle Township high school boys lacrosse teams christened Middle’s new home lacrosse facility on Shunpike Road in the season opener for both teams Wednesday afternoon.

The Tigers spoiled the occasion for Middle by exploding for six straight first-quarter goals en route to a 14-3 victory.

Branden Smith tallied six goals and Trey McGrail and Chucky Magill each added three for Lower. Niko Castellano added two goals and an assist and Cameron Leslie needed to make just three saves in goal.

Matt Frame scored twice and Tommy Stahler added a goal for Middle. Miguel Abarca-Vargas made 28 saves in goal.
