Latest area youth baseball and softball scores

The following are results from recent area youth baseball and softball games:

MAJOR BASEBALL

Greater Wildwood Elks 13, Middle Township Pirates 10: Cade Vogdes slugged a three-run home run to break a 10-10 tie and give Elks the lead for good. Christian Sorensen added a two-run single and also got the save on the mound by striking out the side in the final inning. Brian Cunniff was the winning pitcher with nine strikeouts. R.J. Blanda had two hits and Ryan McGrath scored three runs for Elks. Connor Mulligan hit an inside-the-park grand slam and Hunter Urbaczewski hit an RBI double for the Pirates.

Greater Wildwood Elks 7, Lower Township Spilker 6: Nick Tyson’s two-run single with two outs highlighted a four-run top of the sixth inning for Elks. Christian Sorensen tossed five innings with six strikeouts for the pitching win, allowing no runs after the first inning. Max DelMonte posted two hits and an RBI and Sorensen, Cade Vogdes and Brian Cunniff each doubled for Elks. DelMonte also struck out the final two batters with the tying run at third base for the save. Drew Kronemeyer had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored and Aiden Flanagan and Logan Smith each added a hit and a run scored for Spilker.

Lower Township Apex 6, Greater Wildwood Elks 1: Ben Harczak had two hits and an RBI and Nick Antonicello had an RBI single and also earned the pitching win by allowing just one run over 3 1/3 innings in relief. Kallan Garragozzo added a hit and a run scored for Apex. Cade Vogdes doubled and scored a run and Antonio Panzini and Max DelMonte combined to concede just one run over four combined innings of relief pitching for Elks.

MINOR BASEBALL

Greater Wildwood J Byrne Agency 8, Middle Township Phillies 4: J Byrne was led by brothers Leo and Max Figueroa, along with a solid pitching performance by Angelo Panzini. Michael Sciarra and Jake Williams also were key performers.

Middle Township Phillies 10, Greater Wildwood J Byrne Agency 9: Nick Matteucci had two hits, including a bases-clearing double, and Jerome Booth added a double for the Phillies. Bryce Ziegler pitched 2 2/3 innings and struck out seven batters. Angelo Panzini went 3 for 3 with five RBI and Michael Valerio added two hits for J Byrne.

Middle Township Phillies 4, Middle Township Cubs 3: Starter Kyle Mick gave up just one hit and struck out five and Harry Clark got the save with four strikeouts for the Phillies. Dylan DiLossi tripled and Mick and Tommy Phillips each had key hits for the Phillies. Michael Farrow and Lucas Hagan combined for a strong pitching effort for the Cubs.

Middle Township Phillies 3, Greater Wildwood Lions 2: Dylan DiLossi’s walk-off two-run double in the bottom of the final inning scored Nick Matteucci and Kyle Mick for the winners. Bryce Ziegler also had a key hit in the last inning. For Lions, Vinni Sweeney struck out seven batters over three innings pitched and Jeziel and Alexander each added key hits.

Greater Wildwood J Byrne 13, Lower Township Cape Resorts 3: Jake Williams, Earl Belasco and Sean Cunniff each reached base multiple times and combined to score five runs for J Bryne. Michael Sciarra and Angelo Panzini each added key hits. Panzini was the winning pitcher and got great help from Kavon Richards, who made a diving catch to end a Cape Resorts threat early in the game.

MAJOR SOFTBALL

Greater Wildwood Optimist 27, Lower Township 12: Emily Evans went 3 for 3 with a triple, home run and six RBI and Dani Shaw added two doubles and six RBI and was the winning pitcher for Optimist. Sienna Sawyer added two hits, including a triple, and three runs scored and Emma Messer had two hits and three RBI for the winners. For Lower, Kahlan Schaffer had two hits and three RBI, Evan Campbell posted two hits and an RBI and Alayna Crecca chipped in a hit and two runs scored.
