LCMR to host ‘Salute To Service Day’ at athletic contests Monday

Lower Cape May’s Jonas Lumbruno holds the American flag prior to a football game during the 2017 season. Lower Cape May is hosting a “Salute to Service Day” on Monday, May 6.

Lower Cape May Regional High School and Richard M. Teitelman Middle School is set to honor members of the military on Monday, May 6, during what the schools are billing as a “Salute To Service Day.”

All veterans and active members of the United States military and their families are invited to attend various home sporting events scheduled that afternoon. Members of the military are encouraged to wear their uniforms, hats, etc., so that the community can recognize them for their service.

Students and staff of the Lower Cape May Regional School District, as well as their families and members of the community, are encouraged to wear red, white and blue to show support to service members.

The two schools will host a variety of home athletic contests that day. The schedule is as follows:

FREEMAN DOUGLASS PARK (just north of high school on Route 9)

High school boys Lacrosse: Mainland at Lower Cape May, 3:45 pm

High school boys tennis: Cedar Creek at Lower Cape May, 3:45 pm

High school JV baseball: Ocean City at Lower Cape May, 3:45 pm

LCMR/RMT SCHOOL CAMPUS

High school girls lacrosse: Ocean City at Lower Cape May, 3:45 pm

High school baseball: Ocean City at Lower Cape May, 3:45 pm

Middle school baseball: Middle Township at Richard M. Teitelman

The National Anthem will be performed simultaneously at both the Freeman Douglass Park location and the school campus before the start of all athletic contests at 3:45 p.m. A short recognition ceremony will follow. Invited guests can attend one or all the games by walking from field to field.
