Area youth baseball and softball results

The following are results from recent games played by area youth baseball and softball teams:

MAJOR BASEBALL

Greater Wildwood Elks 6, Greater Wildwood Raging Waters 2: Brian Cunniff struck out seven over 3 ⅓ innings for the pitching win and also stroked a two-run double at the plate for Elks. Cade Vogdes singled and doubled, Ryan McGrath had two hits and Christian Sorensen scored two runs for Elks. Antonio Panzini and Max Del Monte combined for 2 ⅔ innings of scoreless relief for the winners. For Raging Waters, Broc Denke went 3 for 3 with two runs scored and Trevor Troiano hit an RBI double.

Greater Wildwood Elks 7, Middle Township Hurrikanens 1: Christian Sorensen hit a two-run double and also pitched four innings of one-hit ball to lead Elks. Cade Vogdes went 2 for 2 with two RBI and three runs scored and also struck out the side in each of his two innings pitched for Elks. Max DelMonte and Michael Blanda each made superb defensive plays for Elks. Wyatt Hand had a hit and a walk for the Hurrikanens.

Greater Wildwood Elks 8, Lower Township Apex 3: Antonio Panzini struck out seven and allowed just two hits over five innings to get the pitching win for Elks. Ryan McGrath had three bunt singles, Devon Weber and Nick Tyson each added RBI singles and Max DelMonte reached base four times and scored twice to lead Elks. Jack Smithson doubled and scored twice for Apex.

Greater Wildwood Elks 9, Middle Township Pirates 4: Nick Tyson had two hits and four RBIs and Cade Vogdes singled, homered and scored three runs to lead the Elks offense. Christian Sorensen added a two-run double. Max DelMonte and Brian Cunniff combined for 3 ⅓ innings of scoreless relief pitching in the win. Connor Mulligan hit a pair of doubles and had an RBI and a run scored for the Pirates.

MINOR BASEBALL

Greater Wildwood J Byrne 14, Middle Township Diamondbacks 4: Jake Williams, Leo Figueroa and Kedian Sanchez led the J Byrne offense. Angelo Panzini and Michael Valerio combined on a strong pitching performance for the winners.

Middle Township Phillies 9, Middle Township Diamondbacks 4: Kyle Mick hit an inside-the-park home run and had four RBI and Tommy Phillips tripled and and had two RBI to lead the Phillies’ offense. Mick and Bryce Ziegler combined for the pitching win. Ziegler also added two hits and Jack Wilson chipped in a key hit. Joseph Eisele had two hits for the Diamondbacks.

Greater Wildwood J Byrne 11, Middle Township Cubs 9: Angelo Panzini hit a two-run double and Will Auty was the winning pitcher for J Byrne.

COACH PITCH BASEBALL
Poppi’s Pizza 7, John’s Auto 3: First baseman James Vizzard ended the game with an unassisted double play to highlight the win by Poppi’s.

MAJOR SOFTBALL

Middle Township 14, Greater Wildwood Optimist 5: Gabby Cruz went 3 for 3 with a home run and five RBI and was also the winning pitcher for Middle. Ashley Nagle and Emma Messer each had a hit and two runs scored for Greater Wildwood.

Greater Wildwood Optimist 17, Northfield 7: Sophie Brown and Emma Messer each had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored and Dani Shaw tossed three scoreless innings in relief for the winners. Julia Tower had a hit and two runs scored in the loss.

Greater Wildwood Optimist 32, Lower Township 15: Emily Evans had three hits, including a home run, and posted six RBI and three runs scored for Greater Wildwood. Emma Messer added three hits, five RBI and three runs scored and Ashley Nagle posted two hits, six RBI and three runs scored. For Lower, Haley Anzelone had two hits, three RBI and two runs scored and Brynn Brophy chipped in a hit and two runs scored.

MINOR SOFTBALLGreater Wildwood Sand Jamm 9, Upper II Islanders 5: Emma Oravits struck out six batters on the mound and also hit a two-run double to lead Sand Jamm. Antoinette Cooper reached base three times and Addison Troiano and Lilah Sawyer each made key defensive plays for Sand Jamm.
