CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — There was barely an inch of open space to be found on the pool deck at the Cape May County Special Services aquatics facility Tuesday afternoon.

That’s what happens when Cape May Tech and Middle Township, programs who share the facility for practice and home meets, square off against one another.

In the latest edition of the friendly rivalry, Middle Township swept both meets by relatively close scores. The Panther boys won, 90-80, and Middle’s girls were victorious by a 100-70 score.

In the girls meet, Sophia Bosacco and Sophia Braun were each part of three first-place finishes for Middle. Individually, Bosacco took first in the 100 backstroke and 500 freestyle and Braun won the 50 freestyle. They were both part of the winning 200 medley relay team with Natali Ilieva and Ishika Patel. And Braun joined her sister, Samantha; Patel; and Catherine Bostard for victory in the 200 free relay.

Ilieva also claimed first place in the 100 breaststroke for Middle.

Kaitlyn Crouthamel led Cape May Tech with victories in the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly. Lindsay Robbins won the 200 freestyle. Crouthamel and Robbins were also part of the winning 400 free relay team, along with Ruby Redmond and Cameron Muir.

In the boys meet, Brendon Bartha (200 IM, 500 free) and Travis McCray (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) each won two events to lead Middle to the close victory. They also swam with Martynas Bartnikas and Riley Campbell in winning the 200 free relay.

Chris Porto was part of three first-place finishes for Tech. He won the 100 butterfly and was on the winning 400 free relay team with Steve Olson, Jake Perez and Evan Carlson and on the winning 200 medley relay team with Justin Lee, Roman Voinea and Anthony Paluch.

Olson (200 freestyle), Voinea (100 breaststroke) and Lee (100 backstroke) were also individual winners for Cape May Tech.
