Wildwood Catholic High School senior Jacob Hopping scored the 1,000th point of his career Wednesday evening in the Crusaders’ lopsided victory over Buena.
Needing five points to reach the mark entering the game, Hopping converted a reverse layup attempt very early in the contest before making a three-pointer from the top of the key with 6:24 to go in the first quarter to attain the milestone.
Hopping is the third member of the current Wildwood Catholic team to reach 1,000 career points. Senior forward Taj Thweatt reached the milestone last season as a junior and senior guard/forward Jahlil White scored his 1,000th career point last month.
Hopping is averaging slightly more than 10 points per game for Wildwood Catholic this season. The Crusaders are 16-6 overall.
