Braiden Scarpa of Middle Township High School is the latest CoastSportsToday.com Male Athlete of the Week.
A senior goalkeeper on the boys soccer team, Scarpa enters the sectional tournament this weekend in second place in program history in career victories with 29.5. Scarpa has five victories during this pandemic-shortened season.
Ironically, Scarpa surpassed his father, Mark, a 1998 graduate who is now third in program history in career goalkeeper victories with 27, earlier this season. Nik Anagnou, a 2016 graduate, is the all-time leader with 46 career goalkeeping wins.
Scarpa also has 10 career shutouts, placing him tied for third behind his father (11) and 2014 graduate Tanner Kerr (16).
