CoastSportsToday.com Female Athlete of the Week: Ava Troiano, Wildwood

Ava Troiano of the Wildwood High School girls cross country team is the latest CoastSportsToday.com Female Athlete of the Week.

Troiano, the team’s lone senior, helped the Lady Warriors clinch the Tri-County Classic Division title — their first division title of any kind — when the team won a pair of dual competitions at a large Tri-County Conference batch meet at Delsea Regional High School last week. Troiano finished in 22:26.17 to place 15th overall out of 88 finishers despite running through a painful foot injury. Freshmen teammates Macie McCracken (fifth) and Leah Pawlus (14th) each finished ahead of Troiano.

Troiano was the only female runner in the program when she joined the team as a freshman in 2018. Three seasons later, she’s the captain of a division championship team.

Troiano is also a major contributor to the girls basketball and softball teams at Wildwood.
