Cape Express, CoastSportsToday.com teaming up to honor top local soccer players

By BRIAN CUNNIFF

Cape Express Soccer Club and CoastSportsToday.com are teaming up to honor the top high school soccer players from Cape May County.

The first Cape Express/CoastSportsToday.com boys and girls soccer county all-star teams are set to be announced before the end of the month.

The all-star teams will include a Player of the Year selection, 12 first team all-stars, a coach’s selection from each team and honorable mention recipients.

The Player of the Year, first team all-stars and the coach’s award winners will each receive a plaque. Honorable mention selections will each receive a certificate.

Coaches from each team have nominated up to five players for consideration. Separate committees of boys and girls coaches, along with CoastSportsToday.com staff, will select the Player of the Year and the 12 first team all-star selections for both the boys and the girls from among the nominations.

Middle Township High School girls soccer coach Mike Hickman, who is also the Director of Coaching for Cape Express Soccer Club, is leading the effort in organizing the all-star selection program.

“This is a great way to give some of our local high school soccer players the recognition they deserve,” Hickman said. “I’m very grateful that the Board of Directors of Cape Express Soccer Club and CoastSportsToday.com are supporting this worthwhile venture.”

The all-star teams will be announced on the CoastSportsToday.com website and promoted through the CoastSportsToday.com and Cape Express Soccer Club social media pages.
