VIDEO: Middle sweeps swim meet over Cape May Tech

Middle Township High School’s swimming teams swept a meet over its closest rival Friday afternoon.

The Panther boys were 95-74 winners and the girls managed a 107-55 decision over Cape May Tech’s teams at the Special Services School District aquatics facility, which the teams share for practices and meets.

Brandyn Acevedo and Chase McCray paced Middle in the boys meet. Acevedo placed first in the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly and was also part of two first-place relay teams. McCray won the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle and was also on two winning relay teams.

Justin Wen (100 breaststroke) and Jordan Severino (100 backstroke) also won events for Middle (2-2).

Evan Carlson led Cape May Tech (0-2) with first-place efforts in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle.

Sarina Wen was part of four first-place finishes for Middle in the girls meet. She won the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke and was also a member of two first-place relay teams. Sofia Jurusz (500 freestyle), Elaina Nelson (100 breaststroke) and Reilly Deschenes (100 butterfly) also won individual events for Middle (2-2).

Emie Frederick led Cape May Tech (0-1) by placing first in the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle races.
