The Ocean City High School golf team has won the Cape May County golf championships for the fourth time in five tries Tuesday afternoon at Shore Gate Golf Club in Ocean View.

The Raiders, behind individual champion Alex Bayham, posted a low team score of 167 in the event, which was shortened to nine holes from the usual 18 due to rain.

Bayham led four Raider golfers in the top five with an even-par 36 to win the event by a comfortable seven-stroke margin. Teammate Sam Williams was second with a 43. Tying for third place at 44 were Middle Township’s Jake Riggs and Ocean City’s Race Myers and Sam Ritti.

Middle Township was second in team scoring at 204, followed by Lower Cape May (210), Cape May Tech (225) and Wildwood Catholic (226).

The county championship tournament was first held in 2017. Ocean City won the first three tournaments, before the event was not held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Middle Township won the 2021 tournament.
