Champions crowned at Scoop Taylor grammar school tournament

Richard M. Teitelman School won the varsity (grades 7-8) boys division at the Scoop Taylor Tip-Off Classic by beating Crest Memorial in the title game. WILDWOOD CREST – The following are results from championship games played at the Scoop Taylor Tip-Off Classic, one of South Jersey’s largest grammar school basketball tournaments. The tournament was played Dec. 8-18 at the Crest Pier Recreation Center:

Grades 3-4 Boys – Wildwood Islanders 36, Upper Township (Grade 4) 20: Jack McCann produced a game-high 10 points and Declan Bannon and added eight points for the Islanders. Upper got six points from Landon Severs and four points apiece from Joey Gaynor, Rylan Thompson and Jase Harless.

Junior Varsity Girls – Margaret Mace 37, Wildwood Catholic Academy 29: Aubrey Bradway poured in 20 points and Sabrin Fathi chipped in 14 points for the winners. WCA received 16 points from Madeline Burns and nine points from Avery Hanson.

Junior Varsity Boys – Crest Memorial 39, Upper Township (Grade 5) 16: Levi Sheppard netted a game-high 16 points and Michael Sciarra added seven points for the Crest. Aiden McHale scored eight points and Jason Christopher chipped in five points for Upper.

Varsity Girls – Margaret Mace 33, Middle Township 26: Rebecca Benichou tallied a game-best 19 points and Laila Fathi scored eight points for Mace. Ella Leahy’s 10 points and Casey Day’s six points paced Middle.Varsity Boys – Richard M. Teitelman 31, Crest Memorial 19: Ryan Mallon posted 12 points and Jacob Plenn added eight points for Teitelman. Luca DelConte registered 10 points and Angelo Panzini scored five points for the Crest.
