VIDEO: Geary’s header allows Middle to see off previously unbeaten Oakcrest

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Sean Geary is one of the tallest players on the pitch in any given game.

That height served Geary and the Middle Township High School boys soccer team well on Monday.

Geary rose above the crowd 19 minutes into the first half and nodded Eddie Proud’s corner kick into goal for the match’s only tally as Middle posted a 1-0 victory over Oakcrest.

Geary made a short run from the top of the penalty area and met Proud’s delivery just outside the six-yard line before Oakcrest goalie Jacck Markley could arrive. Geary’s header bounced past a Falcon back attempting to clear the ball off the line.

Middle evened its record at 3-3 while Oakcrest suffered its first defeat and fell to 4-1.

Braiden Scarpa stopped nine shots for the shutout in goal for Middle.
