OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City High School field hockey team now has a date with one of its biggest rivals in a state playoff game.
The Raiders will host Mainland in a South Jersey Group III semifinal on Tuesday at Carey Stadium after dispatching Timber Creek in the quarterfinal round on Friday.
Ocean City, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, got two goals apiece from Haleigh Flukey and Chloe Prettyman in its 5-1 win over the seventh-seeded Chargers. Molly Reardon added a goal and an assist for the Raiders, who improved to 13-7 with the win.
Third-seeded Mainland beat No. 11 Winslow Township, 4-0, in its quarterfinal game Thursday.
Ocean City and Mainland split their two games during the regular season. Mainland scored a 2-1 victory on Sept. 11 before the Raiders posted a 3-0 victory in the rematch on Oct. 4.
