Strong showing at girls golf tournament by Middle pair

Middle Township’s Laura Porto placed 11th out of 84 golfers at the South Jersey Girls Invitational.

A pair of sophomores from Middle Township High School put forth a strong showing at the South Jersey Girls Invitational Tournament Monday afternoon.

Laura Porto shot 46 and Alexa Lord carded a 53 as the two-golfer Middle team placed eighth out of 22 teams at the nine-hole tournament, which was held at par-36 Westwood Golf Club in Woodbury.

Porto’s score placed her 11th out of 84 golfers at the event. For Lord, the tournament was her first-ever competitive event.
