Hammonton center too much for Wildwood in Boardwalk Classic final

WILDWOOD — Sara Peretti was too much to handle for the Wildwood High School girls basketball team.

The 6-0 senior center shot 12 for 19 from the floor and poured in 24 points to go with 15 rebounds to lead Hammonton to a 44-38 win over the Lady Warriors in the Kaitlin Anzelone Memorial Girls Bracket title game at the Boardwalk Basketball Classic.

Wildwood opened the game with a 10-4 surge, only to see Hammonton close the half on a 15-8 run to take a one-point lead at the half. The Blue Devils then outscored Wildwood 17-9 in the third quarter to establish control of the game.

Wildwood (6-1) got no closer than the six-point deficit that equaled the final score.

Maddie McCracken scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Imene Fathi added 10 points for Wildwood.

Jada Thompson netted 16 points for Hammonton (4-1).
