The Middle Township High School girls basketball team is going back to the South Jersey Group II championship game.
Their path to the sectional title game wasn’t an easy one.
The Lady Panthers went on the road and won at the No. 1 seed, downing Sterling 42-40, to land in the South Jersey title game for the second time in three seasons.
Middle, the fourth seed in the tournament, will travel to No. 1 Manchester Township on Tuesday for the sectional championship game. Manchester was a 77-57 winner over No. 3 Haddonfield in its South Jersey semifinal game Friday
Sophomore Kate Herlihy sank 17 points, junior Kira Sides added 14 points and junior Maddie Barber sank a huge three-pointer in the fourth quarter and added seven points for Middle (24-5). Junior Aubrey Hunter chipped in four points and eight rebounds.
Imani Holloway netted 12 points for Sterling (24-4).
Middle faced Manchester Township in the South Jersey title game two seasons ago, losing on a three-pointer just prior to the buzzer. Manchester Township (27-2) is ranked second in the state.
