Thanks to three first-place finishes in individual events, the Lower Cape May Regional High School girls track placed second out of eight teams in Division II at the West Deptford Relays Saturday.
Junior Hailey McKeown placed first in the long jump and triple jump to lead the Lady Tigers. She leaped 14 feet, 8.75 inches, in the long jump and posted a distance of 31-5.5 in the triple jump.
Teammate Ava Pierce, also a junior, was first in the high jump at a height of 4-6. Pierce was also second in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump.
Other notable finishes for Lower Cape May included a third-place effort by Christina Adams in the javelin toss at a distance of 101-9 and a fourth-place finish by Hannah Kelleher in the high jump at a height of 4-4.
Middle Township senior Abri Bostard won the pole vault, clearing the bar at 8-6. Teammate Briar Rose Lemma was second at 8-0.
Lower Cape May scored 66 points as a team to finish behind host West Deptford. Middle Township placed fifth with 40 points.
