The Middle Township High School boys tennis team has earned the chance to play for a third South Jersey championship in four seasons.
Middle, sectional champs in 2016 and 2018, defeated Pennsville, 3-2, Thursday to land in the South Jersey Group I title match. The Panthers, seeded third in the tournament, will travel to top-seeded Woodstown for the title match on Monday.
Middle has faced Woodstown in the state playoffs in each of the past three seasons, beating the Wolverines in the South Jersey title match in 2016 and 2018 and losing to them in the second round in 2017.
Justin Price secured Middle’s victory over Pennsville on Thursday. He won the final contested match in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
Middle got its other points from Max Gilbert at first singles (6-0, 6-1) and from Owen Carlson and Colby Watts at second doubles (6-3, 6-2).
The Panthers improved to 17-2 for the season.
