The Lower Cape May Regional High School field hockey team continued its strong start to the season with a narrow 1-0 victory over Buena Wednesday.
Reese Bracken scored the game’s only goal on a hard shot from the top of the circle with 4 1/2 minutes remaining in the first half.
Lower Cape May had numerous chances to add to its lead but couldn’t capitalize. The Lady Tigers also had two balls go in the net on shots deemed by the officials to have come from just outside the circle, nullifying the tallies.
Buena managed some good spells of possession and got the ball into the scoring circle on a couple of occasions in the second half, but the Lady Tiger defense prevented any real dangerous chances by the Chiefs.
Makayla Hueber recorded the shutout in goal for Lower Cape May (4-1).
