Catching up with some former Cape May County high school athletes now competing at the college level …

Madie Gibson (senior-Monmouth soccer-LCMR) finished her final college season with eight goals, good for second on the team, and a team-high six assists. Monmouth won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament championship during all four of Gibson’s seasons. Monmouth’s season ended in penalty kicks in the first round of the NCAA Tournament after a scoreless draw with No. 16 Brown. The Hawks finished the season at 14-2-3. Gibson finished her career fifth in program history in career points (102), tied for fifth in program history in career goals (35) and second in program history in career assists (32). She was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Year as a junior. …

Abdiel Richards (junior-North Carolina Central football-WHS) saw action in all 12 games for the Eagles, who finished the season at 4-8 overall after a 54-0 loss to North Carolina A&T on Saturday. The defensive back and special teams player recorded five tackles. …

ANTHONY ZAMPIRRI

Anthony Zampirri (junior-Cabrini soccer-WCHS) was named a first team Atlantic East Conference all-star after posting a .695 save percentage and 1.93 goals against average for the Cavaliers, who finished 10-8-1 overall after losing in the AEC Tournament championship game. …

D.J. Smith (junior-Cabrini basketball-WCHS) made five three-pointers and scored 15 points to go with three assists in the Cavaliers’ 93-86 loss to Scranton on Saturday. Smith is averaging 12.5 points per game and leads the team in three-point field goals with 21. He’s also shooting 91 percent from the foul line. Cabrini (2-4) next plays Dec. 3 at Lancaster Bible. …

Olivia Levin (sophomore-Washington College basketball-LCMR) has seen action in four of a possible five games and is averaging 1.8 points. Washington College (4-1 overall, 1-1 Centennial Conference) next plays Tuesday at Swarthmore. …

MACKENZIE MCCRACKEN

Mackenzie McCracken (junior-Widener basketball-WHS) scored four points and grabbed four rebounds in an 85-76 overtime win over Rowan on Saturday to remain unbeaten. McCracken, who missed two games due to injury, 3.3 points and 2.7 rebounds. Widener (5-0 overall) next plays at Neumann on Tuesday. …

Patrick Holden (sophomore-Widener basketball-LCMR) recorded seven points and two assists in a 79-67 victory over Catholic University last week. Holden is second on the team in scoring at 12.2 points per game, is tied for the team lead with 10 assists and is shooting 62.5 percent on three-point attempts and 89.5 percent from the foul line. Widener (5-0 overall) hosts Misericordia this evening. …

Kyion Flanders (sophomore-Stockton basketball-Wildwood) scored a team-high 14 points in the Ospreys’ 84-54 loss to Swarthmore on Saturday. Swarthmore is the top-ranked team in the nation in Division III. Through four games, Flanders is averaging a team-best 14.5 points while shooting a solid 48.6 percent from the floor. He also has a team-high nine steals. Stockton (2-2 overall) plays at The College of New Jersey Tuesday in its first New Jersey Athletic Conference game of the season. …

Lauren Moretti (junior-Delaware Valley basketball-WCHS) scored 12 points in the Aggies’ 76-69 loss to Penn State Harrisburg on Sunday. A day earlier, she shot 8 for 14 from the floor, including 5 for 9 from three-point range, in scoring a game-high 23 points in a 66-48 win over Wesley College. Through six games, Moretti is second on the team at 15.8 points per game and leads the team with 16 three-point field goals. Delaware Valley (1-5) next plays Dec. 2 at Stockton. …

Dej’hanee McNeal (junior-Alvernia basketball-LCMR) has seen action in one game thus far for the Golden Wolves (4-1 overall). Alvernia next plays Tuesday at Cedar Crest College. …

ROMEO RODRIGUEZ

Gary Nagle (sophomore-Ursinus wrestling-MTHS) picked up a forfeit victory at 174 pounds in Saturday’s 43-6 win over King’s College. Nagle is 5-2 overall on the season. Teammate Romeo Rodriguez (freshman-Ursinus wrestling-MTHS) is 5-4 at 125 pounds and is tied for the team lead with four victories by fall. Ursinus is next in action Dec. 6-7 at the New Standard Invitational tournament at York College. …

Brennan Ray (sophomore-Montclair State football-LCMR) has been named a second team New Jersey Athletic Conference all-star after recording 58 tackles (seven for loss), four interceptions and two sacks over 10 games. He ranked 14th in the NJAC in tackles. Montclair State finished the season 6-4 overall, 5-2 NJAC. …

Joe Fala (senior-Ramapo soccer-MTHS) led the Roadrunners with 15 goals and six assists. He finished his career third in program history with 47 goals. HIs 18 career game-winning goals are tops in program history. Ramapo finished 11-2-5 overall after a 1-0 upset loss to Rowan in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal round. …

CALEB FIELDS

Caleb Fields (sophomore-Bowling Green basketball-WCHS) scored four of his 10 points in overtime to help the Falcons to a 91-84 upset victory over Cincinnati in the semifinal round of the eight-team Paradise Jam tournament in the U.S. Virgin Islands on Sunday. He also grabbed three rebounds. In the opening round, he scored six points, two of which came on a key tip-in in the final minute, in the Falcons’ 77-75 victory over Western Kentucky. Bowling Green (5-1) will play Nevada in the title game this evening at 8. Fields, who has started five of the team’s six games (missing one due to an ankle injury), is averaging 9.0 points and 2.8 rebounds.  …

Will Berger (sophomore-Rutgers cross country-LCMR) finished in 114th place out of 144 finishers in 27:56.7 at the 111th annual IC4A Championships five-mile race on Saturday at Van Cortland Park in Bronx, N.Y.
