A Middle Township High School freshman is set to enjoy a high-level soccer experience.
Steven Berrodin, a starter at midfielder as a debutant for the Panthers this fall, is one of six players from across the state in the 2002 to 2006 age groups to be selected to play in the U.S. Youth Soccer East Region Olympic Development Program Interregional event in December.
Berrodin was selected based off his performances for the New Jersey ODP.
He’ll travel to Bradenton, Fla., to train and compete against players from other regions at the IMG Academy from Dec. 17 through 21. Berrodin and the other selected players will do so under the watchful eye of U.S. Soccer national staff members and collegiate coaches.
“These players have worked extremely hard and performed at a high level consistently throughout the year in our ODP program,” New Jersey ODP technical director James Galanis said in a release on the New Jersey Youth Soccer website. “Gaining selection for the region is deserved and an honor they will remember for the rest of their lives.”
