CoastSportsToday Female Athlete of the Week: Izzy Aftanis, Middle Township

Izzy Aftanis of the Middle Township High School girls soccer team is the first CoastSportsToday.com Female Athlete of the Week for the 2020 fall sports season.

Aftanis, a senior center back, returned to the lineup this fall after missing all of last season due to injury and has helped the Lady Panthers to solid start to the season. With Aftanis leading the team’s defense, Middle (1-1-1) has conceded just three goals over its three games this far, all against excellent competition.

Aftanis was particularly effective in Middle’s 0-0 draw with nationally ranked Ocean City last week.
