PHOTO GALLERY: Middle battles Millville in close loss

The Middle Township High School girls soccer team represented itself well Thursday.

The Lady Panthers couldn’t come up with the victory, but they certainly battled a Millville team that finished 16-3-1 last season to a 2-1 defeat.

Millville scored a goal off a direct kick midway through the first half and then another one minute before halftime after a Middle turnover. Middle got within a goal after the interval on a tally by C.C. DiMauro but couldn’t find an equalizing goal.

Middle (0-1) is next in action Tuesday against defending state champion Ocean City.
