WILDWOOD — Coming off a disappointing 21-point effort in a loss to Gloucester Catholic Tuesday, the Wildwood High School girls basketball team found its offense two nights later.
The Lady Warriors erupted for 34 points in the opening half and cruised to a 47-30 victory over Pennsville in their regular-season finale.
Wildwood (9-3) made seven three-pointers and had six different players score in the opening half, while limiting Pennsville to only 11 points over the first two quarters.
Junior point guard Imene Fathi scored 20 points to lead all scorers and seniors Leah Benichou and Jenna Hans — who were honored on Senior Night in their final regular-season home game — each chipped in nine points. Benichou got all of her points via three three-pointers, while Hans added eight rebounds and four assists.
Wildwood will participate in the Tri-County Conference Tournament next week. The team earned the No. 1 seed in Pod B and will have a first-round bye. The Lady Warriors will face the winner of a game between No. 4 Overbrook and No. 5 Gloucester Tech next Wednesday at 5 p.m.
