The Middle Township High School boys soccer team has clinched the Cape-Atlantic United Conference championship.
The Panthers did so behind an 8-0 victory of Wildwood Catholic Saturday morning in Stone Harbor.
Steve Berrodin posted a hat trick and an assist to lead Middle, which scored seven times in the first half. Cameron Odom added two goals and Vinny Povio, Karim Martinez and Eddie Hirsch each chipped in with a goal apiece. Devon Bock made two saves in goal for the shutout, his fifth of the season.
The win improved Middle to 10-1-1 overall, 8-0-1 in conference games. Middle finishes out its conference slate Tuesday with another game against Wildwood Catholic before ending the regular season with a handful of non-conference matches.
The conference championship is Middle’s first since winning back-to-back National Conference titles in 2015 and 2016.
As a conference champion, Middle will participate in the Cape-Atlantic League Tournament, which begins Saturday, Oct. 16. The four-team tournament includes the three conference champions and a wild card team.
