CoastSportsToday.com Female Athlete of the Week: Rebecca Cessna, WCA

Rebecca Cessna of Wildwood Catholic Academy is the latest CoastSportsToday.com Female Athlete of the Week.

A junior pitcher on the softball team, Cessna led the Crusaders to a dramatic 6-5 victory over Doane Academy in 10 innings in a South Jersey Non-Public B playoff game last week. With her team trailing 5-2 and down to its last out in the seventh inning, Cessna produced a three-run triple to tie the contest and force extra innings. Wildwood Catholic scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th on a ground out. Cessna, the team’s starting pitcher, also struck out 15 Doane batters in the contest.

Wildwood Catholic lost in the next round of the tournament to top-seeded St. Joseph.
