OCEAN CITY – Ocean City High School’s boys and girls track teams swept the team competitions at the Cape May County championship meet Friday, held at Carey Stadium under foggy conditions.
The Raiders scored 150 points in the boys meet to beat second-place Middle Township (103). Ocean City garnered 150 points on the girls side, also ahead of Middle Township (103).
Lower Cape May, Wildwood and Wildwood Catholic also competed.
Lower Cape May’s Anthony Gentile (100, 200), Middle Township’s Jared Knights (long jump, high jump) and Ocean City’s Nick Scarangelli (1600, 3200), Dan Givens (110 hurdles, triple jump) and Nick Layton (javelin, pole vault) were each double winners in the boys meet.
Other boys champions included Lower Cape May’s Elijah Jackson (400), Ocean City’s Owen Ritti (800), Ocean City’s Aodhan Daly (400 hurdles), Middle Township’s Marco Salgado (shot put) and Middle Township’s David Giulian (discus).
Lower’s Gentile and Jackson also won the 4×400 along with Devon Figueroa and Zeb Hinker.
On the girls side, Ocean City’s Elaina Styer was the star of the day, becoming a quadruple by winning the high jump, long jump, triple jump and shot put. Double winners included Middle Township’s Keira Phillips (400, 400 hurdles), Ocean City’s Chloe Care (800, 1600) and Lower Cape May’s MaryKatelyn West (pole vault, 100 hurdles).
Other girls winners included Ocean City’s Naomi Nnewihe (100), Maggie Halbruner (200), Abby Inserra (3200) and Marissa Simpson (javelin) and Middle Township’s Daniella Oliver (discus).
