March 17, 2023OC Lady Red Raiders take SJ Group III basketball title, boys give late challenge to Moorestown in loss Tuesday
The Ocean City girls basketball team are South Jersey Group III champions after they defeated Mainland Regional 39-27 Tuesday. The Lady Red Raiders offense was led by Madelyn Adamson, who sunk 17 points for OCHS, but defense also played a key role in their win as the Lady Mustangs were held to only 27 points, a season low. Next the Lady Red Raiders face Ewing in the state Group III girls semifinals, at Deptford High School Thursday at 5pm.
Meanwhile the Ocean City boys proved to be a worthy challenge in their away playoff at Moorestown. While the Red Raiders were down significantly in the early quarters, they struck up a run that would see them down by only six in the fourth. Moorestown held on however, to win the South Jersey Group III Boys championship 52-44. Moorestown advances to the state Group III semifinals Wednesday at 7pm.
