Larry White, longtime assistant director of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association, has reportedly been named the next NJSIAA executive director.
A graduate of Penns Grove High School and LaSalle College, with a master’s degree from Rowan University, White was selected to succeed Steve Timko at the end of the calendar year, according to a report on NJ.com today. The NJSIAA office has declined to comment.
Timko has been the NJSIAA executive director for 11 years. He announced his decision to retire earlier this year.
The selection of a replacement was made by a search committee selected from school officials throughout the state.
White (pictured above, left, with Timko at a state final presentation), was a minor league baseball umpire before becoming an educator and administrator. As assistant director some of his responsibilities included the NJSIAA basketball tournament, instituting the pitch count in baseball and dealing with transfers and suspensions.
