Upper Township youth soccer teams find success at tournament

The Upper Township U-15 Cyclones girls soccer tea mcelebrates winning the Mt. Laurel Columbus Day weekend tournament. The following are results from recent games played by Upper Township youth soccer teams:

GIRLS

U-10 Wildfire: The Upper Township Wildfire continued their successful season by winning their bracket in the Mt. Laurel Columbus Day Tournament. The Wildfire went undefeated in the three-game weekend affair against Pemberton Crush, Seneca Dragons and Palumbo (Pa.). Multiple goals by Abbey Cappelletti, Riley Grawl, Thompson Sypherd and Adalyn DeAngelis, as well as goals by Molly Quinn and Cece Mirsky, paced the offense. Shutdown defense by Emily Keich, Grawl, and Hudson Scola limited their opponents to few chances, which were stopped by solid goalkeeping by Quinn, Mirsky, Savanna Rolls and Rebecca Siteman. Constant pressure, crisp passing, and multiple chances were generated throughout the weekend were generated by wingers Siteman and Carly Godfrey.

The Upper Township U-11 Tsunamis girls soccer team went undefeated en route to the Mount Laurel tournament championship. U-11 Tsunamis: The Upper Township Tsunamis placed first in their division at the Mt. Laurel Columbus Day Tournament. The Tsunami beat Cinnaminson Blast, 3-0, behind goals by Maeve Quinn, Lilliana Keim and Kaia Ray. Emily Leonard, Lindsey Seeberger and Lilliana Keim assisted on the goals. Emily Swan earned the shutout in goal. The defense was led by Gwen O’Hara, Abby Marr, Ella Jefferson and Shaela Gannon. Brooke Liebrand, Maeve Smith and Gianna Vallese contributed by controlling the midfield all day. In the second game, Maeve Quinn and Lilliana Keim scored goals and Keim and Shaela Gannon had assists in a 2-1 win over Pittsgrove Real. Maeve Quinn then had two goals in a 2-1 win over Medford Strikers in the final game. Gianna Vallese and Maeve Smith supplied the assists. Emily Swan recorded her third victory in goal with another strong performance.

U-12 Wave: The Upper Township went unbeaten in winning their division at the Mt. Laurel Columbus Day Tournament. In Game 1, McKenna Chisholm and Zoey Lappin each scored two goals and Julia Keich and Millinda Marigliano each added assists in a 4-2 win over the Medford Union. Hannah Cappelletti and Anna McCabe allowed just a goal each in net. Ashley Rhodes, Corinne Williams and Madison Rossetti added support. In Game 2, Zoe Lappin’s goal in the second half forced a 1-1 draw with Lighthouse Crush. McKenna Chisholm had the assist. In the third game, McKenna Chisholm scored twice and Millinda Marigliano and Malia Dahms each added goals in a 4-0 win over the Marlton Crush. Lainey Mackin, Madison Pratt and Julia Keich had assists. Outstanding play by Anna Delaney, Zoey Lappin, Charlotte Risley, Corinne Williams, Madison Rossetti, Mackin, and again Marigliano along with a complete game shutout by Hannah Cappelletti and Anna McCabe made it a great finish to a very successful weekend for the Wave of Upper Township. Added support by Taylor Amstutz from the bench while on injured reserved propelled the team throughout the weekend.

U-15 Cyclones: The Cyclones went unbeaten in three games to win the Mt. Laurel tournament. They defeated the Burlington Banshees (2-1), the Marlton Devils (3-0) and TBAA Spirit (4-0).

BOYS

The Upper Township U-9 Avalanche celebrate winning the championship in Mt. Laurel.

U-9 Avalanche: The Avalanche scored 19 goals and conceded just one in going unbeaten in three games to win the Mt. Laurel tournament. Dominic Schultz, Chase Wilson and Gabriel Meron covered goal and also each contributed goals when on offense. Nolan Servis, James Carr, Talon Ray, Caden Schiemer, Chase and Dominic kept the pressure on offensively while Cooper Marr, Brady Dahms and Gabriel played phenomenal defense.
