Dylan Delvecchio, a sophomore on the Cape May Tech boys basketball team, is the latest CoastSportsToday.com Male Athlete of Week.
Delvecchio tied a 17-year-old program record for points in a game when he netted 39 in a 66-47 victory over Buena on Saturday. Delvecchio shot 15 for 19 from the floor in the contest. He also gathered 17 rebounds and picked up five steals.
Delvecchio scored his final two points of the game on a dunk in the fourth quarter.
The school record was set by Keith Palek, who scored 39 points in a game twice — once as a junior in 2002 and once as a senior in 2003. Palek’s son, Keith, is currently a starter on the St. Augustine Prep boys basketball team.
