WILDWOOD — The Wildwood High School girls soccer team lost a tough 2-1 decision to Penns Grove in extra time Thursday afternoon at Kaitlin Anzelone Memorial Field.
Wildwood’s Kaydence Oakley opened the scoring early in the second by finding the goal directly off a corner kick. Her in-swinging kick from the right corner flag crossed the line before a Penns Grove defender could clear the attempt away.
Penns Grove equalized when A’mani Taylor scored at the left post by redirecting a cross from teammate Kaylee Adams.
Wildwood controlled much of the play for the later stages of the second half but couldn’t find the goal.
Penns Grove got the winner midway through the second period of extra time when Makayla Holt scored on a 25-yard direct kick.
