Catching up with some former area high school athletes now competing at the college level …

Kyion Flanders (junior-Stockton basketball-WHS) was recently named a second team New Jersey Athletic Conference all-star after averaging 9.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game during the shortened nine-game season. Flanders also averaged 2.1 steals per game and posted a 1.8 assist-to-turnover ratio, both of which ranked third in the NJAC. Flanders, who was a first team NJAC selection as a sophomore, helped the Ospreys reach the NJAC title game in mid March. …

Victoria London (freshman-Rowan College at Gloucester softball-MTHS), Paige Fox (freshman-Rowan College at Gloucester softball-MTHS) and Lacey Abrego (freshman-Rowan College at Gloucester softball-MTHS) have all been key contributors for the Roadrunners, who entered this week ranked fourth in the country in the NJCAA Division III poll. London, a third baseman and shortstop, is batting .378 with two home runs and 15 RBI. Fox, an outfielder, is hitting .452 with two triples and seven RBI. And Abrego, a pitcher, is hitting .417 with three doubles and eight RBI while also posting a 5-2 record with two saves on the mound. Rowan-Gloucester (13-4 overall) is next in action on April 13 with a doubleheader against Rowan College at Cumberland. …

Madison Sloan (freshman-Rowan College at Cumberland softball-LCMR), an infielder, leads the Dukes in hitting at .550, total hits with 11 and slugging percentage at .750. Teammate Alexis Donnelly (sophomore-Rowan College at Cumberland softball-LCMR) is batting .200 at the plate and is 0-2 on the mound. Rowan-Cumberland (3-7 overall) is next in action Thursday at home against Harford. …

Kevin Roach (senior-Bethany College baseball-LCMR), an outfielder, is batting .289 with two home runs and seven RBI in 45 at bats for the Bison (8-8 overall). Roach hit his two home runs during a doubleheader sweep of Geneva on March 25, blasting one in each game. …

Maddie McCracken (sophomore-Stockton basketball-WHS) averaged 9.0 points and 6.8 rebounds (both good for third on the team) while seeing action in five of the Ospreys’ six games during the pandemic-shortened season this winter. She also averaged 31.6 minutes per game, second on the team. Stockton finished 1-5. …

Mackenzie McCracken (senior-Widener basketball-WHS) averaged 1.4 points and 1.1 rebounds while seeing action in nine of 11 games for the Pride. Widener finished 7-4 overall. …

Matt Gibson (freshman-Stockton lacrosse-LCMR) has started both of the Ospreys’ games so far this season as a defender. Stockton (1-1) is next in action Saturday against Centenary. …

Bridget Ruskey (senior-LaSalle lacrosse-MTHS), Allison Hunter (senior-LaSalle lacrosse-MTHS) and Kira Sides (freshman-LaSalle lacrosse-MTHS) have all been impactful contributors for the Explorers this season. Ruskey is second on the team in goals scored with 15 and has also added four assists for 19 points through eight games. Hunter has added eight goals and five assists for 13 points to go along with eight draw controls. Both have started each of the team’s first eight games. Sides has seen action in six games, scoring her first collegiate goal in the team’s most recent game, a 14-3 victory over St. Bonaventure. LaSalle (3-5) is next in action Friday at Duquesne. …

Chris Mormile (senior-Lynn baseball-WHS) has 17 strikeouts in 20 innings pitched so far this season for the Fighting Knights, a Division II program in Boca Raton, Fla. Mormile is 0-3 with a 6.10 earned run average. Lynn (5-8 overall) is set to play a four-game series with Palm Beach Atlantic this weekend. …

Brendan Bean (junior-Penn baseball-North Wildwood resident) has not conceded an earned run in five innings over three relief appearances for the Quakers this spring. He has struck out four batters against just one walk and opponents are batting just .158 against him. Penn (2-5 overall) hosts Delaware in a doubleheader on Saturday. Bean played three seasons at Wildwood High School before finishing his career at Gloucester Catholic. …

Carina Raymond (freshman-Jefferson lacrosse-LCMR) has posted four goals and an assist in four games (two starts) for the Rams this spring. She has also collected seven ground balls. Jefferson (4-1 overall) is next in action Saturday at Molloy (N.Y.). …

Lexi Hunt (junior-Lourdes lacrosse-LCMR) has scored both of the team’s goals through its first two games. Lourdes (0-2), located in Sylvania, Ohio, is scheduled to play Aquinas on Saturday. …

Patrick Holden (junior-Widener basketball-LCMR) was recently named a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth honorable mention selection after averaging 11.9 points and 2.9 assists per game for the Pride. He scored in double figures in seven of Widener’s 11 games this season, including a career-high 21 points in a game against Arcadia on March 12. Holden also made a jump shot as time expired in an overtime victory over Albright on Feb. 19. Holden ranked third in the conference in three-point percentage at 42.9. Widener finished 4-7 overall. …

Emily Cimino (sophomore-Lehigh softball-WCA) is hitting .319 with four doubles and 11 RBI while starting all 14 games for the Engineers so far this spring. She went 2 for 5 with a triple and two runs scored in the team’s most recent game, a 12-10 win over Army. Lehigh is next in action in a four-game series this weekend at Holy Cross. …

Chris Johnson (sophomore-Stockton track and field-WCA) placed second in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the second Stockton Invite. He posted a time of 11:08.02. Stockton is next in action this weekend at the West Chester Invitational. …

Taj Thweatt (freshman-West Virginia basketball-WCA) saw action in nine games and posted four points and seven rebounds for the Mountaineers this winter. West Virginia (19-10) lost to Syracuse in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. …

Lauren Moretti (senior-Delaware Valley basketball-WCA) averaged 8.1 points per game and shot 78.6 percent from the foul line (22 for 28) for the Aggies this winter. She also led the team in assists with 31 and steals with 19 and was second in rebounding at 5.9 per game. Delaware Valley finished 4-5 overall in the pandemic-shortened season. …

Maddie Barber (freshman-Temple lacrosse-MTHS) has started all nine games for the Owls as a defensive midfielder and is second on the team in ground balls with 17. The Owls (6-3), ranked 24th in the country, are next in action Friday at Cincinnati. …

Emily Mendel (freshman-Immaculata lacrosse-MTHS) has played in all six games, with five starts so far this season. The midfielder is third on the team in ground balls with 17. Immaculata (2-4 overall) was scheduled to play Marywood on Wednesday. …

Caleb Fields (junior-Bowling Green basketball-WCA) started 25 of a possible 26 games and averaged 6.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists for the Falcons this winter. He scored in double figures 10 times, including a career-high 15 points in a win over South Carolina State. Bowling Green finished 14-12 overall. …

Rakim Coyle (junior-Rowan track and field-WCA) was part of the winning 4×100 relay team at the first Stockton Invite in late March. Rowan is next in action this weekend at the West Chester Invitational. …

Caroline Gallagher (freshman-Cabrini lacrosse-MTHS) has started all six games to date for the Cavaliers and has recorded one goal and nine ground balls. Cabrini (4-2 overall) was scheduled to play Marymount on Wednesday. …

Mel Amador (sophomore-Chestnut Hill lacrosse-LCMR) has started all three games and has played all 60 minutes in each for the Griffins so far this season. She has recorded 54 saves. Chestnut Hill (0-3) is next scheduled to play Saturday at Georgian Court. …

Aubrey Hunter (freshman-Fairleigh Dickinson lacrosse-MTHS) has recorded 16 goals, good for fourth on the team, and six assists while starting all eight games to date for the unbeaten Devils. She also ranks second on the team in both ground balls with 28 and draw controls with 51. Hunter recorded three goals and an assist in the team’s most recent game, a 21-6 win over Hood College. Fairleigh Dickinson next plays Saturday at Wilkes. …

Phil Pfaffman (junior-Neumann baseball-WCA), an outfielder, has seen action in two games and has an RBI double in three at bats for the Knights. Teammate Kyle Eppright (senior-Neumann baseball-CMT) has seen action in one game at first base. Neumann (5-1) is set to play a three-game series this weekend at Immaculata. …

Jimmy Versage (senior-St. Thomas Aquinas baseball-MTHS) has started all six of the team’s games to date as an outfielder and is batting .571 with a home run and three doubles. He leads the team in hits with 12, runs scored with 10 and RBI with 11. The Spartans (6-0) are ranked No. 2 in the East Region and No. 22 nationally in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division II poll. St. Thomas Aquinas, located in Sparkhill, N.Y., is a member of the East Coast Conference.
