PLAYER OF THE YEAR
John Lindsay Senior Forward Ocean City
One of the Cape-Atlantic League’s and South Jersey’s most prolific scorers and playmakers, Lindsay netted 25 goals and 11 assists this fall. Dangerous from all areas in the offensive third of the field, Lindsay was a first-team All-South Jersey selection and a first-team Group III state all-star. The four-year starter and two-year team captain powered the Raiders to a solid 13-5 finish. Lindsay is set to play college soccer at Rowan University.

Deron Azile Sophomore Back Lower Cape May
One of the top outside backs in the CAL United Conference, Azile has proven his worth as an outstanding one-v.-one defender while also possessing a strong ability to link play with his teammates in the midfield. Already a two-year starter as a sophomore, Azile is also an occasional offensive threat and added two goals this fall.
Steven Berrodin Junior Forward Middle Township
An extremely dangerous talisman as a striker but also a creative playmaker the during times when he dropped into the midfield area, Berrodin finished the season as the CAL United’s points leader with 24 goals and 13 assists. A tremendous competitor who wins more than his share of physical battles, Berrodin led Middle to conference title and a first-round victory in the South Jersey Coaches Cup.
Tommy Carr Senior Back Middle Township
A team captain and center back, Carr was the anchor of a Middle Township defense that conceded more than one goal in a game just five times in 21 matches. Was at his best in a stunning first-round upset of Shawnee in the South Jersey Coaches Tournament. Adept at using size to his advantage.
Jimmy Kane Sophomore Midfield Wildwood Catholic
One of the most talented players in the entire CAL, Kane is a technically gifted and physically strong midfielder for a team that is otherwise very short on experience. Dangerous both with the ball and in making runs toward goal from the midfield, he led the CAL United in goals with 25 despite often facing man-marking and double-teaming defenses.
Lambros Koutsfetsoulis Senior Midfield Ocean City
A three-year starter, Koutsfetsoulis emerged as an excellent secondary playmaker for the Raiders behind teammate John Lindsay. Exhibits exemplary vision and good technical skill, allowing him to post nine goals and a team-best 12 assists for Ocean City this fall.
Ori Levy-Smith Senior Back Ocean City
A terrific team and one-v.-one defender, Levy-Smith displays poise and calmness under pressure. A team captain and three-year starter for Ocean City, Levy-Smith is also a threat moving forward, as evidenced by his five goals and five assists this fall.
Vinny Povio Junior Forward Middle Township
A consistent threat due to his pace and tenacity, Povio emerged as an outstanding secondary scorer for the Panthers with 12 goals and four assists this fall. Is particularly adept as the front player in a high-press attack.
Anderson Ryan Junior Goalkeeper Lower Cape May
Athletic with terrific instincts, Ryan has a knack for making the spectacular save look routine. Can be counted on to make at least a couple breathtaking stops per game. Finished the season with 95 saves and five shutouts.
Matt Sgrignioli Junior Back Middle Township
A left back who excels in one-v.-one situations, Sgrignioli matched up with and excelled against opposing teams’ top players all season long. Has quick footwork in tight areas. Also a threat moving forward, Sgrignioli dished six assists this fall.
Taj Turner Junior Back Lower Cape May
A three-year starter and team captain, Turner is one of the CAL United’s most underrated players and most consistent defenders. Uses excellent soccer acumen to anticipate plays to thwart opposing attacks from his center back position. Has earned significant respect from opposing coaches.
Miguel Valencia Junior Midfield Lower Cape May
One of the most the technically sound players in the CAL, Valencia is the engine that drives the Caper Tiger offense. A consistent performer who shines in every game, Valencia is a three-year starter and team captain who recorded seven goals and eight assists this fall.
Andrew Weber Senior Forward Lower Cape May
A four-year varsity player, Weber moved from the back line to striker and produced a team-best 17 goals for the Caper Tigers. Size, technical skill and determination give him an edge each time the ball lands at his feet.
