CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — The Middle Township High School boys lacrosse team couldn’t rally a second time.
Mainland scored three times inside the final six minutes to post an 11-9 win over the Panthers Monday in a game played in seasonably cool, blustery conditions.
Middle trailed 4-1 to start the game but rallied to take an 8-7 edge after the third quarter, only to see the Mustangs surge at the finish.
Brett Nabb posted four goals, an assist and six ground balls to lead Middle. Greg Hyrnowski also scored four goals and Isiah Carr-Wing notched 12 ground balls and won 13 of 20 faceoffs in the loss. Matt Frame added a goal and Tommy Shagren recorded three assists for the Panthers. Austin Shagren made 13 saves in goal for Middle.
Middle dropped to 2-5 with the defeat.
