The Middle Township senior league softball team won the District 16 championship Sunday evening when it finished off a sweep of a best-of-five series over Northfield.
Middle won Sunday’s clinching game, 14-4, behind Brynn Brophy’s three-hit performance at the plate and two innings of one-hit relief. Lily Vogel went 2 for 2 with a double and three RBI; Gabby Cruz singled, doubled and had three RBI; Charlotte Romberger had a two-run single; and K.J. Schaffer added a hit and a run scored. Johanna Longstreet was the winning pitcher.
Middle won the previous games of the series by scores of 15-4 and 17-2.
Middle Township advances to the Section 4 Tournament, which is set to begin July 5 in Pennsville.
