VIDEO: Rodriguez, Middle set records on final day of regular season

The Middle Township High School wrestling team enjoyed a record-setting day on Saturday.

The Panthers established a program record for best winning percentage after victories over Cinnaminson (60-15) and Audubon (48-30) in their final regular-season action of the season. Middle finished at 18-3 for an .857 winning percentage. The 18 wins also tied last season’s record for most wins in a season.

ROMEO RODRIGUEZ

Individually, Romeo Rodriguez added another accomplishment to his already impressive resume. The senior established a new program record for career victories by winning his 105th career match after accepting a forfeit win against Cinnaminson. He went on to claim his 106th career win with a win by third-period fall over Audubon.

The previous record of 105 career wins was set by 2018 graduate Gary Nagle, who is now wrestling at Ursinus.

Rodriguez, a senior defending district champion who usually wrestles at 126 pounds, is 106-32 for his career.

Alick Killian and Carson Haas each recorded two wins by fall for Middle on the day. Evan Dugan, Kyle Matthews, Marcus Hebron and Dawson Tallant each earned one victory by fall.

Middle is next in action at the District 31 Tournament at Williamstown next weekend.
